Categories

 

TR_CAT

The Category function is used by the administrator to manage and configure the categories associated with the questions in the question pool. They are only available with the Omnixx Trainer extension.

 

To configure the categories for a certification, click the Categories option from the Trainer drop-down menu. A list of all certifications previously added to the database is displayed in the Functionality area of the screen. Highlight the appropriate certification by clicking it with your mouse, and then click the Next button to continue. (Refer to Section 12.1.1 – Select Certification for the “select a certification” process.) However, if a certification was previously selected, the information for that particular certification will be displayed in place of the list of available certifications. Note: The particular certification selected for this function is Trainer Certification shown in the Certification field in the Omnixx Console Summary area.

 

The Select Action Categories screen consists of two sections: Actions and Categories. The administrator is provided with a list of available Actions, and entries for each Category related to the selected certification. The administrator may select only one option from each list.

 

Actions

The Actions feature allows the administrator to select the action to apply to the certification. It also permits categories to be assigned to a particular certification.

 

Categories

The administrator selects a Category from the list to modify a particular certification by clicking the radio button located to the left of the category ID field.

 

TR_CAT_ADD

 

The administrator selects the Add new category option and the Add Category screen is displayed.

 

The administrator enters data for the new category in the following fields:

 

Identifier – The naming convention used for the identifier of a category must be alphanumeric and cannot contain any spaces.

 

Name – Enter the full name of the category.

 

Miscellaneous – Any desired miscellaneous text information can be entered for the category.

 

If all the information is added correctly, click the Next button. If the category is successfully added to the database, the Add Category Confirmation message appears on the screen.

 

Click the OK button to add the new category to the database. The Select Action Categories screen with the new category is displayed for the Omnixx Console interface.

 

TR_CAT_COPY

 

If the administrator selects the Add copy of selected category, the Copy Category screen is displayed with the selected category for the certification. This function is used to create a new category, which is a copy of the selected category in the list. It begins with a copy of all data elements of the selected category. A new name for the copied category must be provided by the administrator allowing modification of data elements with new values.

 

If all the information is entered correctly, click the Next button. If the certification category is successfully added to the database, the Add Category Confirmation message appears on the screen.

 

Click the OK button to return to the Select Action Category screen. Note the new category is added to the Categories section.

 

TR_CAT_EDIT

 

If the administrator selects the Modify category option, highlight the category to modify by clicking the radio button located to the left of the category ID field, then click the Next button to display the Modify Category screen is displayed. The administrator may modify the selected category; however, the Identifier field is displayed in grayed text (grayed-out”) and cannot be altered. Identifiers are referred to as primary keys and are used as search criteria.

 

Make modifications to the following parameters (if any):

 

Name – Enter the full name of the category.

 

Miscellaneous – Any desired miscellaneous text information can be entered for the category.

 

After successfully entering the changes to the category, click the Next button to update the database. The administrator returns to the Select Action Category screen.

 

TR_CAT_DEL

 

If the administrator selects the Delete category option, highlight the category to delete by clicking the radio button to the left of the category ID field, then click the Next button to continue. The Delete Category Confirmation dialog box is displayed.

 

If the administrator decides not to delete the objective, clicking the Cancel button will display the Cancel Confirmation dialog box. Click the OK button and the administrator returns to Select Action Category screen.

 

The administrator may confirm his or her intention to delete the selected objective by clicking the OK button. The Delete Category Confirmation message is displayed. Click the OK button to return to the Select Action Category screen. Note that the selected category is deleted from the Categories list.

 

If no further actions are required, the administrator may click Done, then the Next button to display the Category Complete message.

 

The administrator may click the OK button to return to the Omnixx Console Trainer Functions screen.
