Types of Fields in a Dialog Box

The different types of fields are listed and described below:

Text Entry Boxes

Entry boxes allow you to enter the appropriate data into a field. For example, entering the name of a wanted person into an Omnixx Force format. Place the cursor (short vertical blinking line) in the desired box and click your mouse, then start typing the text or characters.

Check Boxes

Check boxes allow you to activate or deactivate a specific option. Place the mouse pointer in the box and click the left mouse button. This will check (activate) or uncheck (deactivate) the box.

Radio Buttons

Radio buttons usually appear in groups. You may select only one option in the group. Place the mouse pointer on the circle, and then click the left mouse button to select the desired option. Simply click another option in the group to change the current setting.

List Boxes

List boxes provide you with a list of possible entries for the field. Place the mouse pointer on the box located to the right of the field, and then click the left mouse button. The list of possible entries is displayed in a drop-down list. To select an item from the list, double-click on the item. The item you selected automatically populates the field box.

Command Buttons

Command buttons control the status of the entire dialog box. Place the mouse pointer on the face of the command and click on the left mouse button, or TAB through the commands until the desired command is highlighted, then press ENTER.

Multi-Line Text Boxes

Multi-line text boxes may contain many lines of text that cannot display in one window. A scroll bar will appear on the right side of your screen with up and down arrows available for viewing the text. Click with your mouse on an up or down arrow and the text window will move up or down depending on the arrow you choose displaying the text.
