Omnixx Console Certifications Functions

Certifications are utilized to define the functionality a user is authorized to employ with each application, in terms of the specific functions and forms the user can access. Certifications provide this functionality by controlling which items are shown on the menus of Omnixx client applications. Whenever an Omnixx client application is started, all menus are filtered to include only those items that the user is certified for prior to downloading them to the client. Users that do not have any certifications for a specific application are not able to run that application. Certifications are typically not related to a specific application, but to multiple applications.

Each application has a default certification whose identifier matches that of the application. This certification is used to determine whether or not the user is authorized to use the application at all, and can also be used to authorize common functions not typically associated with certifications (e.g., exit, cut, copy, paste, etc.). The Certification functions are used to configure and manage certifications. All references to certifications are limited to those associated with the selected agency.

Certifications are used in this application to limit the functionality of administrators using the Omnixx Console. By defining each administrative action (e.g., add user, modify training course, delete device, etc.) as a function, a single console application can be used by multiple classes of administrators, each limited by their active certifications.
