Modify Device

 

DEV_PROP

The Modify Device function is used by the administrator to change information pertaining to a device assigned to a subagency already existing in the database. This function allows the administrator to modify device interface functions.

 

To modify a device, click the Modify device option from the Devices drop-down menu. A list of all devices previously added to the database is displayed in the Functionality area of the screen. Highlight the appropriate device by clicking it with your mouse, and then click the Next button to continue. (Refer to Section 6.1.1 – Select Device for the “select a device” process.) However, if a device was previously selected, the information for that particular device will be displayed in place of the list of available devices. Note: The identifier is displayed in grayed text (“grayed-out”) and cannot be altered. Identifiers are referred to as primary keys and are used as search criteria.

 

DEV_POC

 

Make any desired changes to the current information, and click the Next button to continue. The Point-of-Contact (POC) Information screen is displayed and populated with any previously added information. These fields are not mandatory, but may provide future help for an administrator regarding a subagency’s device. Note the State field defaults to the first state in the drop-down list.

 

Make any desired changes to the current POC information, and click the Next button to continue. The Select Action Device Application screen is displayed consisting of two sections: Actions and Applications. The administrator is provided with a list of available Actions, and entries for each application related to the selected device. The administrator may only select one option from each list.

 

Actions

The Actions feature allows the administrator to select the version of the program and the business rules to be used by each subagency device. It also permits specific application configuration parameters (ACPs) to be assigned to a particular device.

 

Applications

The administrator selects the Application to apply the business rules and configuration parameters to for a particular device by clicking the radio button located to the left of the application ID field.

 

DEV_APP_RULES

 

The Business rules option is selected by the administrator and the Omnixx Console is the application of choice governed by the Agency Rules Group defaults. By clicking the Next button, the Device Application Business Rules screen is displayed.

 

The administrator may select from Available Rules Versions. The Rules Versions include two groups: Global or Agency. By deselecting the Production Version (Default Group) check box, the administrator may click one of the Rules Group program version options by clicking the radio button located to the left of the business rules version ID field. The administrator may select only one option from the list. Clicking the Production Version check box again ensures the program version selected will be the default program sent to every device, unless otherwise specified by the system administrator.

 

Agency

The Agency rules group is default program parameters specific to a particular agency. These parameters are set by the agency’s system administrator, and only at this level can these defaults be changed for subagency devices.

 

Global

The Global rules group is default program parameters configured for the entire agency and subagency network. These parameters are set by Datamaxx Applied Technologies, Inc. personnel only.

 

Once the rules version is selected, click the Next button to return to the Select Action Device Application screen. If no further actions are required, the administrator may click Done, then the Next button to continue.

 

DEV_APP_ACP

 

If the administrator selects the Configuration parameters option, the Select Action Device Application Configuration Parameter screen is displayed consisting of two sections: Actions and Parameters. The administrator is provided with a list of available actions, and a list of parameters related to the selected device. The administrator may select only one option from each list.

 

Actions

The Actions feature allows the administrator to select the action to apply to the device. It also permits specific application configuration parameters (ACPs) to be assigned to a particular device.

 

Parameters

The administrator selects a Parameter from the list to modify a particular device by clicking the radio button located to the left of the parameter ID field.

 

DEV_APP_ACP_EDIT

 

If the administrator selects the Modify Parameter option, click the Next button to display the Modify Device Application Configuration Parameter screen.

 

The ACP for a particular device is displayed with a description of the default value. This default may be overridden by the administrator and a new value entered for the parameter. To override the default, click the Override for Device check box and enter the default value in the field.

 

By clicking the Next button, the administrator is returned to the Select Action Device ACP screen. If no other parameter modifications are required, the user may click Done, then the Next button to return to the Select Action Device Application screen.

 

DEV_APP_PROG

 

If the administrator selects the Program versions option, click the Next button is to display the Device Program Application screen.

 

The available program versions for the subagency device is shown in a list. By deselecting the Production Version check box, the administrator may select from the program version options list by clicking the radio button located to the left of the program version ID field. The administrator may select only one option from the list.

 

By clicking the Next button, the administrator returns to the Select Action Device Application screen. If no other parameter modifications are required, the administrator clicks Done, then the Next button to continue.

 

DEV_INT_ICP

 

The Select Action Device Interface screen is displayed consisting of two sections: Actions and Interfaces. The administrator is provided with a list of available Actions, and a list of interfaces related to the selected device. The administrator may select only one option from each list.

 

Actions

The Actions feature allows the administrator to select the action to apply to the subagency device interface. It also permits a specific interface to be assigned to a particular device.

 

Interfaces

The administrator selects the Interface to modify from the list for a particular device by clicking the radio button located to the left of the interface ID field.

 

DEV_INT_ASN

 

If the administrator selects the Assign interface option, click the Next button and the Device Interface Assignment screen is displayed.

 

The administrator selects the interfaces to assign for a particular device by clicking the check boxes located to the left of the assigned interface ID field. Once the interface(s) are assigned, click the Next button to return to the Select Action Device Interface screen. Note the Assigned field in the Interfaces section is Yes for the selected device interface.

 

DEV_APP_ICP_EDIT

 

If the administrator selects the Modify configuration parameters option, click the Next button to display the Device Interface Configuration Parameter screen consisting of two sections: Actions and Parameters. The administrator is provided with a list of available Actions, and a list of parameters related to the selected device interface. The administrator may select only one option from each list.

 

Actions

Parameters

The administrator selects the Parameter from the list to modify for a particular device interface by clicking the radio button located to the left of the parameter ID field.

 

The ICP for a particular subagency device interface is displayed with the name and default value of each. If no modification to the interface parameters are required click Done, then the Next button to continue. The administrator returns to the Select Action Device Interface screen.

 

DEV_INT_ICP_EDIT

 

If the administrator selects the Modify Parameter option, click the Next button to display the Modify Device Interface Configuration Parameter screen.

 

A description of the interface configuration parameter (ICP) for the device is displayed with the parameter properties. This default may be overridden by the administrator and a new value entered for the parameter. To override the default, click the Override for Device check box and enter the default value in the field.

 

By clicking the Next button, the administrator is returned to the Select Action Device ACP screen. If no other parameter modifications are required, the administrator may click Done, then the Next button to return to the Select Action Device Interface screen.

 

If no further actions are required, the administrator may click Done, then the Next button to display the Device Properties Complete message. Click the OK button to return to the Omnixx Console Device Functions screen.
