Edit Menu

The Edit menu option offers five functions for the user: Cut, Copy, Paste, Select All, and Find (on this Page). The definitions of each function are described in this subsection.

Cut

This option allows a user to remove selected text from the message window and place it into another application. The user highlights the desired text and clicks the Cut command. The highlighted text is removed and placed on an imaginary “clipboard” and can now be pasted into another application.

Copy

This option allows a user to make a copy of selected text from the message window and place it into another application. The user highlights the desired text and clicks the Copy command. A copy of the highlighted text is placed on an imaginary “clipboard” and can now be pasted into another application. Note that the selected text remains in the original message window.

Paste

This function works in conjunction with the Cut and Copy commands. After the text is cut or copied from an application, the text can be transferred to another application by placing the cursor at the desired location and clicking the Paste command. The text that was in the imaginary “clipboard” is now placed at the cursor location.

Select All

This command selects all of a highlighted item or an entire screen of information.

Find (on this Page)

This function gives the user the ability to quickly locate a word or phrase on a particular web page.
