Add New Host Switch Interface

 

CSINT_ADD

This function allows the administrator to add a client-switch interface to the database. To add a client-switch interface to the database, click the Add new interface option from the Host Switch Interfaces drop-down menu. The Add Client-Switch Interface screen is displayed in the Functionality area of the screen.

 

The administrator enters data for the new host switch interface in the following fields:

 

CSINT_ID

 

Identifier – The naming convention used for the identifier of a client-switch interface must be alphanumeric and cannot contain any spaces.

 

Name – Enter the full name of the client-switch interface.

 

Switch – Name of host switch associated with a specific client-switch interface.

 

Status – The client-switch interface may be active or disabled.

 

Miscellaneous – Any desired miscellaneous text information can be entered for the client-switch interface.

 

If all the information is entered correctly, click the Next button. If the client-switch interface is successfully added to the database, the Add Client-Switch Confirmation message appears on the screen. Note: The identifier for the selected host-switch interface is displayed in the Interface field in the Summary area of the Omnixx Console Interface screen.

 

INT_ICP

 

Click the OK button to display the Select Action Interface Configuration Parameter screen. This screen is used by the administrator to modify the interface configuration parameters (ICPs) used by the interface.

 

The Select Action Interface Configuration Parameter screen consists of two sections: Actions and Parameters. The administrator is provided with a list of available Actions, and entries for each Parameter related to the selected interface. The administrator may select only one option from each list.

 

Actions

The Actions feature allows the administrator to select the action to apply to the interface. It also permits ICPs to be assigned to a particular interface.

 

Parameters

The administrator selects a Parameter from the list to modify a particular interface by clicking the radio button located to the left of the parameter ID field.

 

INT_ICP_ADD

 

The administrator selects the Add new parameter option to display the Add ICP screen.

 

The administrator enters data for the new interface configuration parameter in the following fields:

 

Identifier – The naming convention used for the identifier of an ICP must be alphanumeric and cannot contain any spaces.

 

Name – Enter the full name of the interface configuration parameter.

 

Value – Enter the value of the ICP associated with a specific host-switch interface.

 

Miscellaneous – Any desired miscellaneous text information can be entered for the interface configuration parameter.

 

If all the information is entered correctly, click the Next button. If the client-switch ICP is successfully added to the database, the Add Interface Configuration Parameter Confirmation message appears on the screen.

 

Click the OK button to add the new ICP to the database. The Select Action Interface Configuration Parameter screen with the new ICP is displayed for the Omnixx Console client-switch interface.

 

INT_ICP_COPY

 

If the administrator selects the Add copy of selected parameter option, the Copy ICP screen is displayed with the selected parameter for the client-switch interface. This function is used to create a new ICP, which is a copy of the selected ICP in the list of client-switch interface configuration parameters. A new Identifier for the copied ICP must be provided by the administrator allowing modification of data elements with new values.

 

If all the information is entered correctly, click the Next button. If the application function is successfully added to the database, the Add Interface Configuration Parameter Confirmation message appears on the screen.

 

Click the OK button to return to the Select Action Interface Configuration Parameter screen. Note the new ICP is added to the Parameters section.

 

INT_ICP_EDIT

 

If the administrator selects the Modify parameter option, highlight the interface configuration parameter to modify by clicking the radio button located to the left of the parameter ID field, then click the Next button to display the Modify ICP screen. The administrator may modify the selected ICP; however, the Identifier field is displayed in grayed text (“grayed-out”) and cannot be altered. Identifiers are referred to as primary keys and are used as search criteria.

 

Make modifications to the following parameters (if any):

 

Name – Enter the full name of the interface configuration parameter.

 

Value – Enter the value of the ICP associated with a specific host-switch interface.

 

Miscellaneous – Any desired miscellaneous text information can be entered for the interface configuration parameter.

 

After successfully entering the changes to the client-switch interface ICP, click the Next button to update the database. The administrator returns to the Select Action Interface Configuration Parameter screen.

 

INT_ICP_DEL

 

If the administrator selects the Delete parameter option, highlight the interface configuration parameter to delete by clicking the radio button to the left of the parameter ID field, then click the Next button to display the Delete ICP Confirmation dialog box. Click the OK button to continue.

 

If the administrator decides not to delete the ICP, clicking the Cancel button will display the Cancel Confirmation dialog box. Click the OK button and the administrator returns to the Select Action Interface Configuration Parameter screen.

 

The administrator may confirm his or her intention to delete the selected ICP by clicking the OK button. The Delete ICP Confirmation message is displayed. Click the OK button to complete the delete ICP process and return to the Select Action Interface Configuration Parameter screen.

 

If no further actions are required, the administrator may click Done, then the Next button to display the Add Client-Switch Interface Complete message.

 

After successfully adding a client-switch interface to the database, the administrator clicks the OK button to return to the Host Switch Interfaces Main Menu screen.
